How to get to Casa-Azul
From Porto or Lisbon airport the distance to the house is about
200/250 kilometres. Take the toll highway either from Porto or
Lisbon to Coimbra, from Coimbra take the highway to Viseu/ Guarda,
IP3. Then the IC6 to Oliveira do Hospital This road will turn into
the N17.. About 8 km before you get to Oliveira d. H. (coming from
direction of Coimbra) , at the junction in the village of Vendas de
Galizes take a right unto the N230 to Avô. In Avô take a right
after passing 
over the
first bridge, then after 50 meters at a T- junction , a left,
direction Pomares the next village (the sign Pomares is on the
other side of the street, so look back) Continue this road for
about 1 km Just when the road makes a curve to the left you see a
tarmac road on the left hand side going uphill. With a little sign
saying: Avô/Aldeia das Dez 4300m.. Take this road all the way up,
when you are on the top just about 20 meters before the tarmac ends
there is another road going up on your right. This road is made of
cement. This is the road to the house 150 meters up. It is a bit
steep, so better put the car in first gear.
And pick up a little speed for the first 20 meters after that you can proceed normally.
Transport
Cheap flights are available from Brussels Air, Brussels to Lisbon or with Transavia, Air Berlin, Ryan Air and sometimes KLM. In addition to these directions the guests who come to stay at casa-azul are received by either the landlady or her neighbour who will guide them to the village of Avô and to the house. Have a very pleasant time!
